I could paraphrase “Now is the time for all good
Republican Women to come to the aid of their party”. We can see
the president in campaign mode already and the lineup against
him is filled with good contenders. As we demonstrated last
election, we DO make a difference and we need to use this time
to educate our friends and neighbors about conservative
principals of smaller government and more freedom. The democrats
will use every trick in the book to deceive the uneducated so we
need to do the job. If you have a candidate you want in the
White House, then work for them, support them and help get them
elected.

FLAGSTAFF REPUBLICAN WOMEN - Janie Cook, President
Most of our active Members were pretty wiped out emotionally and
financially as a result of the run up to the 2010 election. January,
February and March were quiet. We did have some exciting speakers at
our lunch meetings. Rosa Dierks (a Dotie London graduate) gave a
very informative message in January and Tom Morrissey was our
speaker in February.
FRW supports the fund raising efforts of American Eagle Scholarship
Foundation which is open to high school juniors and seniors who
write an essay. In 2011, there were not enough funds to send any
students, so since last summer we helped them raise several thousand
dollars to send two or three students in 2012. Essays will be
submitted this fall and winners will be announced next winter.
The Coconino County Republicans put on an annual
Lincoln Day Dinner in February, which FRW supported by donating
silent auction items and buying tickets. Trent Franks was keynote
speaker.
We are looking forward to hosting the Spring/Summer AZRFW Meeting
here in beautiful Flagstaff.
RWP - REPUBLICAN WOMEN of PRESCOTT
- Sue Francis, President
The Republican Women of
Prescott continues to grow both in membership and in community
efforts and involvements, all thanks to some dedicated, hardworking
ladies. New memberships and renewals are continuing to increase in
2011. Our Reading in Schools Program has been reestablished and is
well underway and our Packing for the Troops Program continues to
thrive. Our first Meet & Greet Evening Mixer, held in February, was
a huge success. The mixer was a wonderful opportunity for our
members to get to know each other outside the confines of our
programmed luncheons. With Gunsite Acadmey as our sponsor, we were
able to raise a large donation for the Community Pregnancy Center of
Prescott. Our next mixer will be a Garden Party we have planned in
June at Watters Garden Center. We will be partnering with Black
Arrow of Prescott in support of the Yavapai College Republicans as
they endeavor to host Ann Coulter in an upcoming event.
Our 4th Annual Fashion Show, Bloom, was held in April. The committee
outdid themselves again this year by turning out another topnotch
affair. Even in the midst of the snowstorm, it was very well
attended! This event is the big fundraiser that supports the
scholarships, projects and organizations we contribute to each year.
We were honored to feature the non-profit organization, the 100 Club
of Arizona – standing behind the men and women who stand behind the
badge – at our big event.
The Scholarship Committee has just completed interviewing the
finalists from this year’s group of applicants. In this final step
of the process, the committee determined three recipients of this
year’s scholarship awards. Our club is excited and proud to make
these investments in those of our youth that we believe will carry
forward our conservative Republican values into the next generation
of leaders. The scholarship applications are available annually to
area high school seniors.
The Republican Women of Prescott provided a booth at
the Yavapai County Contractors Association Home and Garden Show, a
three day event in May. At the booth were voter registration forms,
petitions, Republican Party information and patriotic jewelry. Our
ladies were on-hand for questions and comments. Much information was
disseminated and many contacts were made.
The speakers at our general meeting luncheons have been Prescott
Unified School District Superintendent Dave Smucker who addressed
some of the challenges facing the educational systems today; Pinal
County Sheriff Paul Babeu who spoke on the illegal immigration
issues facing that part of our state; proponent of second amendment
rights Buz Mills of the NRA Board of Directors and Gunsite Academy
who brought us up to date on his fundraising efforts toward the
building of a new firearms range; Yavapai County Administrator Julie
Ayers and Yavapai County Recorder Ana Wayman-Trujillo who gave a
presentation on the county’s redistricting process; Christine Jones,
Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of
the Go Daddy Group, Inc. who discussed various legislative issues
relating to the internet. In May, we look forward to hearing from
the Arizona State Senate Majority Whip Steve Pierce, Speaker of the
House Andy Tobin, and Congresswoman Karen Fann for an overview of
current legislative issues.
We are pleased to now be on facebook and twitter.
Looking forward to the AzFRW Summer Meeting in Flagstaff!
