LRWC - Lincoln Republican Women’s Club - Patricia Kaufman, President

Lincoln Republican Women’s Club membership has reached 45.   We had a Membership Renewal Drive in October.

In September Nancy Kay Arnold, Secretary and Pat Kaufman, President attended the quarterly board meeting of the NFRW in Charleston, SC.  Nancy Kay Arnold, who is on the Mamie Eisenhower Literacy Committee contributed to the 2011 calendar for the NFRW.  One of her students also won the National Award for poetry on the Constitution and she was asked to attend the ceremonies for Constitution Day in Philadelphia.

Our July meeting highlighted Republican Candidates for States Attorney General, State Superintendant of Schools and County Attorney.  We were dark in August and our September speaker was Gus Schneider of the Goldwater Institute.  Mr. Schneider spoke on Constitutional Erosion and we had a Constitutional Quiz.  Also the TARS reported on their trip to Washington, D.C. and gave us yet another thank you for our contribution.

In October we had Rep. John Kavanagh and Mayor Jim Lane speak about the Propositions and were very informative.  We did not have a meeting in November but participated in the Ambassador Barbara Barrett event “Honoring Republican Women” on November13th in conjunction with Paradise and Palo Verde RWCs.

Our December Christmas Party and meeting, fund-raiser and 2011 election and was held on December 4.  We also collected “Toys for Tots” at that time and were honored to have two (gorgeous) Marines just back from Afghanistan, who came to collect the toys but stayed for the entire party and were delighted to meet and be met by our members.  A good time was had by all!

In January we moved our meeting to the Millennium Hotel at 7401 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, and what a wonderful change it was!  This hotel treats us with a great deal of respect and anticipates our every need.  And the food is great.  Our January meeting featured the 2011 AZ State Republican Chairman Candidate Debate.  Our guest speakers were:  Ron Carmichael and Marty Hermansen, Bruce Ash was invited but could not make it.   Bill Cheatham, who was running for County Chairman, also said a few words.

Our February meeting was last Monday and very good.  It was a panel discussion on medical marijuana.  The learned panel included: Dr. Paul Mittner, President and CEO of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, Bill Montgomery, Maricopa County Attorney and Tom Salow, Manager of the Office of Administrative Counsel and Rules of the AS Department of Health.  It was a very interesting meeting with an informative question and answer session afterwards.

These first two meetings of the New Year have been very well attended.  Our next meeting will be on March 7th and will feature a discussion of the Crisis in the Middle East.  The guest speakers are yet to be announced.

PVRWC - Palo Verde Republican Women’s Club - Joan Lang, President

AzFRW President Leona Johnson installed the new Palo Verde Republican Women's 2011 Executive Board at our Christmas event.  Our new President is Joan Lang.  Diana Balich remained as First Vice President.  Roberta Heine is our new Second V.P. Marty Caldwell stayed on as Recording Secretary and Linda Stacey is our new Treasurer.  Sherri Gray is our Assistant Treasurer.  Michelle Creveling is our Parliamentarian, a new position within the club.

We have really big plans for the New Year!  Our website is currently being developed and we are extremely excited about it.  The web committee is working hard with our web master and we are planning to launch the site at our March meeting.  We have a Facebook page as well.  Please visit it and become a "friend."

We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at McCormick Ranch Golf Club.  Our new meeting room is wonderful, large and opens out onto the lake.  Social hour begins at 11:30 with the luncheon at Noon.

Our Community Service projects include:  Child Crisis Center, Operation Home Front, Luke AFB Support and this year we voted to give to Hillsdale College.  Our fundraising efforts are going to be greatly expanded this year, too!

PRWC - Paradise Republican Women’s Club - Susan Kay Schultz, President

Paradise Republican Women’s Club continues to flourish.  Our membership renewal for 2011 is at an all time high.  May 14 the Club will be hosting a combined General Meeting, Membership Tea Event and fundraiser.  This event will be showcased in the stunning home of 3rd Vice President Lin Davis in Troon Country Club.

Club Treasurer Mary Ann Monaco has organized a memorable trip to visit the Presidential Libraries of former Presidents Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan in California October 28-30, 2011.  Cost of trip is $259.00 per person based on double occupancy/$375.00 single.   This trip was planned as an effort to bond with our Republican friends, educate people and experience the camaraderie of a new activity.  We are inviting all our Republican friends to join us.  Legislative Chair Mary Ann Monaco will be holding a legislative summit with attendees during the motorcoach trip over and back from California.  Reservations contact:  AZ Trails Travel at 480-837-8665 or Roxanne@arizonatrails.com.  A 50% deposit will be required by May 31.

We post invitations for candidates, debates, and fundraisers on our Paradise Republican Women’s Club Facebook page.  Our award-winning Web site www.prwc.org is always current with Club information and activities.

The Caring for America committees leads us in serving the community. Our Diapers Galore n’ More project is in conjunction with the Arizona National Guard State Family Programs.  Paradise RW will hold their third baby shower on Saturday, April 16.   These showers are for expectant moms whose husbands are currently deployed.  Previous showers have all been warmly received, successful and attracted television and radio coverage.

Throughout the year we support the UMOM New Day Centers.  Our involvement in this project sets a high standard for all organizations that are committed to charitable works.  We have remained loyal for more than five years and as the need becomes greater; our gifts become even more meaningful.  Our Club members will soon gather for a second outing and tour of the facility in Phoenix.

Each year Paradise helps finance the trip for the Arizona TARS students that attend the Annual Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.  We will continue the tradition with a $1,000 contribution in 2011.
