The Laura Bush Scholarship (College Republican Student
Scholarship) was established by the Arizona Federation of
Republican Women, in honor of First Lady Laura Bush's
work in improving education by launching many initiatives
focused on education and literacy. The scholarship
aims to promote educational opportunities for young
Republican women, and to involve more young women in
political process in support of the cause of good
government. The scholarship began in 1988 as a
Memorial honoring Peggy Goldwater, an active member of
AzFRW.
